Murder suspect in Halifax County turns himself in

Grace Burton Talbott, longtime resident of Hampton, died Feb. 19, 2011 in Ocean Springs, Miss. Mrs. Talbott was born July 18, 1920 to Jesse Thomas Burton and Hattie James Childress Burton of Scottsburg.

Grace worked many years as a hairdresser and also ran Talbott Auto Parts with her husband Ernest and son Michael.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest "Scott" Talbott and son, Michael (Mike) Talbott. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Ferris and husband Russ of Escondido, California and a son, Ernest Talbott Jr. and wife Myrt of Ocean Springs, Miss., six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great, great, grandchild.

She is survived by five sisters, Ola Mae Heck (Harvey) of Havre de Grace, Maryland, Annie Snead and Hattie Leah Puckett (John Will) of Scottsburg, Jackie Conner of Kenbridge and Gilma Shand of Midlothian, two brothers, Thomas Burton (Janice) of Scottsburg and Norman Burton (Betty) of Abingdon, Maryland and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Burton of Havre de Grace Maryland. She was preceded in death by one sister, Emma Powell and two brothers, Jesse and Alfred Burton.

Private services will be held later at Bethel Baptist Church, Scottsburg.
