Harrison R. Throckmorton

Harrison R. Throckmorton of South Boston died Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 at Sentara Woodview Health and Rehab. He was born Aug. 21, 1932 in Halifax County and was 86 years old. He was the son of the late Clyde Warren Throckmorton and the late Susie Langford Throckmorton.

He was a member of the Scottsburg Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and owner of Glen-More Clothing Store. He was also a member of the American Post 8.

Mr. Throckmorton is survived by four nieces, Susie Milam and husband Jonathan of South Boston, Betty Duffer of South Boston, Cheryl Thompson and husband Benny of Cluster Springs, and Robin Throckmorton of Alton; one nephew, Carl Throckmorton and wife Amy of Scottsburg; and a number of great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Bryant “Bonnie” Throckmorton and Garnett Throckmorton, and one sister, Virginia Louise Throckmorton Blanks.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Scottsburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Kermit Evans officiating. Burial to follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Scottsburg, with military honors.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Scottsburg Baptist Church and other times at the home of Susie Milam (Jonathan), 109 Edmunds Street, South Boston.
