Helen Evans Gregory, age 85, of Chase City, died Monday, July 23, 2018. She was born Sept. 27, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Evans and the late Carrie Mae Hatchell Evans. She retired from Craddock-Terry Shoe Factory and was attending First Christian Church in Chase City.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Goldie Mae Upton and Carol Sue Hendrick; one son, Melvin Scott Hendrick and wife, Marjie; three grandchildren, Courtney Michelle Calhoun, Sandy Gail Hoover, and Edward Tracy Upton; three great-grandchildren, Trinity Calhoun, Elyssa Long, and Daelyn Long; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Lucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Billy” Gregory; daughter, Linda Diane Hendrick; son, Lester Roland Hendrick; one sister; and five brothers.

A graveside service was held Thursday, July 26 at 3 p.m. at Boydton Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation was held Wednesday, July 25, from 4-6 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home.
