Helen Virginia Hastings Day of Roxboro, N.C., formerly of Halifax County, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Canterbury House in Roxboro.

She was born in Halifax County on Aug. 7, 1920 and was 90 at the time of her death.

She was the daughter of the late Hubert Haynes Hastings and Bessie Elizabeth Newton Hastings and was married to the late Odis P. Day. She was a member of First Baptist Church of South Boston.

She is survived by a sister, Frances Hastings Vaughan and husband “Buck” of Scottsburg, a nephew, Michael Day of Ewing, a special cousin, Olivia Newton Glass, Sean Glass and Richard Lane, all of Hampton and special friends Vickie Bentley and fianc Thomas Yeatts of Roxboro, and Katie Vaughan of Roxboro, and constant companion at the Canterbury House Wiley Flynn.

A graveside service will be held Monday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge cemetery with Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Online condolences may be made at http://www.powellfuneralscom.
