Herman L. Parrish Sr.

Mr. Parrish was born in Farmville, Oct. 9, 1950 to the late William and Syrene H. Parrish. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools and was an Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Williams Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Parrish was employed by Verizon Communications for 30 years prior to retiring.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Jones and Marion Parrish and one brother, Charles Parrish Sr.
Cherishing his memories are his wife, Catherine of Skipwith, two children, Herman L. Parrish Jr. (Dayna) of Richmond, and Kellie K. Parrish of Marietta, Ga., one step-son, Michael Goode (Sandra); four grandchildren, Toy S. Parrish, Dominique L. Parrish, Dayja M. Parrish and Dayman K. Parrish; two brothers, William Parrish Jr. (Ella) and Arthur Parrish; devoted sister-in-law, Irene Parrish and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
A funeral was held Saturday, April 20, at Williams Grove Baptist Church, Chase City with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the church cemetery.
