Inez Roberts Staten / September 11, 2018

Inez R. Staten, daughter of the late Clarence Powell and Minnie Tatum both of Chase City, was born on Dec. 20, 1928 in Chase City. She was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family in Buffalo Junction, at the age of 90.

Inez started out in Maryland and then moved back to Virginia at a later time. She went to Thyne Elementary School in Chase City, and finished her education in Virginia.

Inez was a saved woman. She lived her life serving God and others as unto God. She was encouraged by her faithful prayer partner for over 20 years, Ms. Fay Thames. She served as an usher at The House of Prayer in Clarksville, Virginia where she was a member for many years and a child care provider for many children throughout her years of living. She later became a faithful member at Enter City Outreach Ministry, her daughter’s church, until she became ill. She loved planting, growing flowers and going fishing with her late husband, George, her family and friends. She was very giving. She would give you her last without a second thought. She was a blessing to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children: Doris (Arthur) Coleman and Mary (Charlie) Darden both of Clarksville, Joyce (Alvin) Johnson of Annapolis, Md., sisters-in-law: Dorothy Staten and Alma Staten both of Chase City; daughters-in-law: Regina Roberts of Forestville, Md., and Cheryl Roberts of South Hill, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and friends.

Inez was preceded in death by her husbands: Chambers Roberts and George Staten; and her children: Stoney, Billy, Esther, Pewee, Skidder, Danny, Pokey and Toney.

Services were held Saturday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. at The House of Prayer.

Services was entrusted into Carter’s Funeral Home.
