James Calvin Watkins

Mr. James Calvin Watkins of Red Bank Road, Virgilina died June 10, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 71. Born in Halifax County on July 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Willie Bernard Watkins and Ethel Sydnor Watkins and was a retired from Burlington Industries, Inc.

Mr. Watkins is survived by four daughters, Wanda F. Small of Buffalo Junction, Lora A. Doswell of Meherrin, Janita Eubanks of Manassas and Etta Tuck of South Boston, four sons, Herb W. Fountain of North Carolina, Willie L. Fountain of Buffalo Junction, James C. Fountain of Oklahoma and Curtis Fountain of Trottingridge, three sisters, Evelyn M. Watkins, Mamie E. Watkins and Annie B. Watkins, all of Virgilina, two brothers, Walter R. Watkins and Rev. Harold Watkins, both of Virgilina, 18 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie B. Watkins and Melvin C. Watkins.

A funeral service for Mr. Watkins will be held today, June 14 at 2 p.m. at White Oak Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in the Watkins family cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home, 1222 Red Bank Road Virgilina.
