James Dodge Fisher Sr.

James “Jimmy” Dodge Fisher Sr. of South Boston died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at the age of 84. He was born in Washington, DC on Nov. 22, 1935 to the late George Allnutt and Sarah Sullivan Fisher, but was raised in South Boston with his aunt and uncle, Margaret and Roy Sullivan.

Jimmy was a graduate of Halifax County High School and worked as a core coil assembler at Westinghouse (ABB). He loved making things particularly tables, chairs and other furniture pieces. Many considered him a true patriot and knew him as an avid Washington Redskins fan. Jimmy was a member at First Baptist Church.

Cherishing his memories are his children, James Dodge “Dodd” Fisher Jr. (Teri), Anthony Floyd “Tony” Fisher, Susan Renee Fisher, Sherri Fisher Bee and Kimberly Fisher Welcher (Chip); sister, Patricia Gibson and sister-in-law, Pat Fisher. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one step grandchild, nine great grandchildren, one step great grandchild and a host of other family members and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by brothers, John Fisher, Richard Fisher and David Fisher.

A private funeral will be held with the Revs. Garrett Bowman and Susan Davis officiating. There is a livestream broadcast of the service on the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to the First Baptist Church Mission Group Fund be considered.
