James Earl Powell, 76, of Nathalie, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. He was born in Halifax on Feb. 28, 1944, son of the late James H. Powell and the late Mary Conner Powell and attended Fork Baptist Church.

Mr. Powell is survived by his daughter, Donna Powell of North Carolina; his granddaughter, Caitlin Duncan of Nathalie; his former wife, friend and caregiver, Bernice C. Powell; siblings Elizabeth Shook of Keysville, Alice Jones of Drakes Branch, Shirley Seamster of Burkeville, Howard Powell of Nathalie, Louise Roberts of Nathalie and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his children Tammy Letterman and James “Buck” Powell and siblings Ida J. Powell, Eugene Powell, Albert Powell and Troy Powell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
