James Elvis Hill, 57, of Spring Avenue, South Boston died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at Duke University Hospital. He was born in Clover on Feb. 13, 1960, a son of the late William Traynham and LinDora Hill Traynham. He was married to Diane Yancey Hill and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hill is survived by one daughter, Shireese Hill of Garner, N.C.; one son, Clinton Hill of Raleigh, N.C.; one step-daughter, Lorinthea Yancey of Newark, N.J.; one step-son, Eric Yancey of Alton; three brothers, Michael Hill (Vera), Dennis Hill and Noel Ferrell, all of Clover; three grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Lawson (Quinton) of Roxboro, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, John Junior Lawson and McKinley Lawson, both of Roxboro, N.C. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral was held Sunday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church with Rev. Alfred Chandler officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Public viewing was Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
