James Raymond Lenhart, age 88, of Chase City, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Sanders Lenhart. He is also survived by his daughter, Jane L. Scott and husband Butch of Chase City and Rita l. Wells of South Hill, N.J. Lenhart of Chase City and William Guy Lenhart of Richmond; grandchildren James Scott, Stephen Scott, Charity Wells, and Andy K. Wells and great grandchildren, Shelby Nicole Scott, Riley James Wells, and Caroline Grace Wells.

He was the past master of the Chase City A.F. and A.M. 119. He was the past commander of the VFW Post 8228. He was also the past patron of the O.E.S. Chase City, VA 147. He was a WWII veteran and a retired school teacher from Mecklenburg County public schools.

A funeral was held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church with Masonic Rites and Military Honors by Post 43. Memorial contributions made to the Friendship United Methodist Church. Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
