James Turner “Tree Top” Keatts, 64, of South Boston, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019. He was born in Halifax County on May 8, 1955, son of the Lillie Mae Perkins and the late Jasper Turner Keatts. He was a member of Mt. Cana Methodist Church. “Tree Top” loved rabbit and deer hunting, his beagle dogs and riding his Harley Davidson. He was President of Hyco Road Hunting Club, of which he was a member for many years.

Mr. Turner is survived by his mother, Lillie Mae P. Keatts; special uncle, Tommy Perkins; and extended family and friends.

A funeral held Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Dunn officiating. Burial followed in Halifax Memorial Gardens.
