James William Shaw

James William Shaw, 95, of Liberty, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, N.C.

James worked in hosiery mills for many years, but his true love was farming. He loved tending to his garden year after year and providing food for his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Wayne Shaw (Vicky), Linda Shaw (Roger Deese), and Kevin Shaw (Teresa); granddaughter, Ashley Peck (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Alexa and Grayson; and brother, Tommy Shaw (Brenda).

James was the son of the late Carl and Flossie Kime Shaw, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Whitesell Shaw; sisters, Donna Frye, Sara Young, Lucy Whitesell, Mary Lee Moore, Sandra Dodson, Ann Shaw; and brothers, Carl Shaw Jr., and Lewis Shaw.

A funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, with Pastor Keith Edwards officiating; burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, Jan. 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
