Murder suspect in Halifax County turns himself in

Janice Logan Grove Powell of 5139 Clarkton Road, Nathalie died Monday, March 7, 2011 at her home. Born in Halifax County on Jan. 30, 1961, she was 50 years old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Irving Daniel Grove and Minnie Margaret Huson Grove, who survives. She was married to Jimmy Dion Powell, who survives. She attended the Church of God.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband of the home, three daughters, Jennifer G. Snead of Nathalie, Madelon Melane Powell of Halifax and Sabrina Elaine Powell of Timberlake, NC and four sons, James Clayton Grove Jr., Jaysen Lee Grove, Jeremy Dion Powell and Jonathan Ryan Lewis, all of Nathalie and her mother of Oak Level. Also surviving is a sister, Brenda G. Landrum of South Boston and two brothers, Curtis Grove and James Grove, both of South Boston and a half brother, Irving Daniel Grove Jr. and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Grove and a half sister, Nancy Epperson.

A funeral for Mrs. Powell will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 10 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Dyer officiating. Burial will follow.
