Jeffrey Scott Puryear, 50, of 1187 Sandy Ridge Road, South Boston, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018. Born in Atlantic County, N.J., Mr. Puryear was the son of Bailey L. Puryear, of Roxboro, N.C. and the late Ruth Anne Geary Morris. Mr. Puryear previously worked at Goodyear and was a member of High View Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, Mr. Puryear is survived by his brothers, Dan Puryear and wife Lisa of Kerr Lake, N.C., Michael Puryear and wife Gwynne of Roxboro, N.C., and Jamie Puryear of South Boston; two sisters, Beth Mullen and husband Ken of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Jennifer Vinciguerra and husband Vinny of Mission Viejo, Calif.; his nieces and nephews, Aaron, Shannon, Nick, Michael, Scott, Mark, Krissy, Megan, Kaden and Nicolette.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Puryear.

A funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 3, at Brooks & White Chapel by Rev. Leslie Puryear. Burial followed in High View Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held Saturday at Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at 138 Puryear Street.
