Jennifer Ann Nichols, 33, of Saxe, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on April 12, 1987, daughter of Sharon N. Bass and husband David and the late Michael Rutledge. Jennifer was a member of Clover Church of God of Prophecy, where she managed the audio, youth Sunday school teacher, and she was very active with Halifax County Cancer Association.

Ms. Nichols is survived by her mother, Sharon N. Bass and husband David of Saxe; sisters, Holly Rutledge of Alton and Rachael Bass of Saxe; brother, Chris Rutledge of South Boston; and maternal grandmother, Thelma H. Nichols of Saxe.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Rutledge, maternal grandfather James N. Nichols Jr. and aunt, Nancy Jo Nichols.

A funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at Clover Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial followed in Clover Cemetery. In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, funeral service will be livestreamed via Powell Funeral Home’s Facebook page. We recommend the wearing of face masks and practice social distancing.

The family received friends Friday, Feb. 5 from -8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home.
