Obituaries Jerry Wayne Carter Sr.SoVaNow.com / March 10, 2011
Mr. Carter is survived by three sons, Anthony D. Carter of Greenville, Miss., Avery L. Carter of Richmond and Jerry W. Carter Jr. of South Boston, six grandchildren, a brother, Melvin I. Carter of Dinwiddie, a sister, Leola J. Davis of Henrietta, N.Y., three daughters-in-law, Chantil Carter, Mea Carter and Joann Carter, a sister-in-law, Brenda Carter, an uncle, three aunts, two nieces, two nephews and a host of other relatives and friends including the devoted Mary Traynham. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie G. Carter and two sisters, Edith V. Carter and Susie C. Medley. A funeral for Mr. Carter will be conducted on Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax with Rev. Presto Medley and Rev. P. W. Bruce officiating. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home and at all other times at the home of Jerry Carter, Jr. 4240 Philpott Road, South Boston. |
