Jessie Younger Johnson

Jessie Younger Johnson, 98, of 1110 Asbury Church Road, Halifax died Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Woodview Sentara Nursing Home. She was born in Halifax County on Feb. 18, 1921, daughter of the late Frank and Estelle Younger. She was married to the late James Johnson and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her twin sons, Donald and Ronald (Juanita) of Halifax; a beloved grandson, Stephen Corey of North Chesterfield; four sisters, Florine Miller of Baltimore, Md., Edith Edmunds and Christine Edmunds, both of Halifax and Jugartha Byrd of Lawrenceville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Friday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Willie L. Yancey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Aug. 2 from noon-1:00 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the home of Ronald and Juanita Johnson, 1093 Asbury Church Road, Halifax.
