Joanne Crews Conner

Mrs. Joanne Crews Conner of 1208 Old Concord Road, Nathalie passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Born January 1, 1943 in Halifax County, she was 67 at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Andrew M. Crews and Ruth Fallen Crews and was married to Lawrence F. “Larry” Conner. She was the owner of the Volens Tax Service, a member of the First Baptist Church of Republican Grove and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department of which she was president for ten years.

Mrs. Conner is survived by her husband of the home, two daughters, Laurie C. Slagle and husband Charles and Beverly C. Clark and husband Fred, one son, Jody Conner and wife April, all of Nathalie, two sisters, Faye Martin and Virginia Shearin and one brother, Donnie Crews and wife Barbara, all of Nathalie, four grandchildren, Phylis Anne Cash, Cullen Clark, Samuel Clark and Isaac Clark, also all of Nathalie. She was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy C. Montgomery.

A funeral service for Mrs. Conner will be held on Monday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Republican Grove with the Rev. Shelton Miles officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home.
