Joe Barnett McLemore Jr. of Cole Lane, Scottsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 66.

Mr. McLemore was born in Alton, Ill., on Jan. 8, 1952 to June Connors McLemore and the late Joe Barnett McLemore Sr. and was married to Ollie Marie Carden-Smith McLemore.

He was a member of Spanish Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran and former employee of ABB Industries.

Mr. McLemore is survived by his wife, Ollie McLemore; two sons, DaMarco McLemore and Joe McLemore; two daughters, Deanna Holmes and Jovoncia McLemore; a stepson, Tony Smith (Helen); a stepdaughter, Shavown Brown (Timothy); 21 grandchildren; his mother, June McLemore; his sister, Bonnie Fox; his brother, Marc McLemore (Yvette); and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and devoted friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brian and stepson, Spencer.

A funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at Spanish Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. William Coleman, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 1049 Cole Lane, Scottsburg.
