John Henry Venable, 61, of Danville, formerly of Halifax, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 at Sovah Health Center. He was born in Halifax County on March 16, 1958, son of the late Charlie Venable and Adalee Traynham Venable. He was married to Laura Farrar Venable and joined Crystal Hill Baptist Church at an early age.

Mr. Venable is survived by his wife, Laura Venable of the home; one brother, James Venable (Edith); two sisters, Viola Barksdale (Jeff) and Nannie Traynham; three step-daughters; two step-sons; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Jane Hodges and Robert Bates.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Febr. 8, 2:00 p.m. at Crystal Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Louis S. Leigh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home, 419 Brooke Drive, Danville.
