John Louis Jones

John Louis Jones, 70, of Lincoln Drive, South Boston died April 21, 2011 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on March 29, 1941, a son of the late Alonzo Louis Jones and Catherine Barbour Jones. He was married to Virginia Chambers Jones, was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and Prince Hall Grand Lodge Order of Free and Accepted Masons, Lincoln Lodge #11.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Alvin Jones, Alfred Jones and John Jones, all of South Boston; one daughter, Barbara Lawson of South Boston; four brothers, Douglas Jones, Mr. Robert Jones, William Jones and Jessie Jones; six sisters, Catherine Dunkley, Fannie Lewis, Emma Henry, Estelle Kirby, Annie Barksdale and Margaret Pounds; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Sallie Chambers; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Alonzo Jones, two brothers, James and Joseph Jones and one sister, Mary E. Carr.

A funeral will be held Thursday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at The Crawford House, Halifax with Rev. Robert Wimbish officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbour Family Cemetery, Nathalie.
