John Wade Glasscock Sr.

John Wade “J.W.” Glasscock, Sr., 46, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018. Born in Halifax County on Nov. 27, 1971, he was the son of John Herbert Glasscock and the late Betty Jane Stembridge Glasscock.

J.W. was of the Baptist faith and was a former member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Glasscock and friend, Mark Owen; son, John Wade Glasscock Jr.; step daughters, Amanda Williams and husband, Tommy, and Jessica Humphries; step son, J.W. Rutherford; sisters, Janice Glasscock and friend, Sheila Blanks, Lisa Fitts and husband, Danny; brother, Michael Glasscock and wife Angie; grandchildren, Cadence Williams, Mallory and Gunner Humphries and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Rev. Todd McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his sister, Lisa and Danny Fitts, 3092 Mt. Carmel Road, Alton.
