Johnnie Wilson “Pete” Ingram, 82, of Vernon Hill, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was born in Halifax County on Nov. 10, 1935, son of the late William Wilson Ingram and Louise Hall Ingram. Pete was married to Virginia Henry Ingram, for 35 years, and was a member and deacon of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was a former superintendent for the town of South Boston and owner and operator of Gaitway, Inc.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Ingram is survived by one daughter, Sharon Hughes and husband Alan of Union Hall; five grandchildren, Brandy Mitchell, Lacey Cooke, Kasey Brown, Johnny Ray Brown and Kristie Ingram and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Carr of Nathalie; devoted friends, Tajanda Woodall and Rita Garber and his beloved pets, Zorro, Hank and Buddy.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Ingram, one grandchild, Crystal Ingram and one sister, Lissie Mae Redd.

A funeral will be held Friday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Wilkins and Rev. Russell Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 21 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home, 1033 Landrum Trail, Vernon Hill.
