Joseph Cephus Landrum Sr.

Joseph Cephus Landrum Sr., of Halifax, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Danville Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on March 17, 1949 and was 64 years of age. He was the son of the late Polly Chaney Landrum and Mamie Satterfield Landrum and was married to Carol Carver Landrum.

Joe was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, a farmer and drove a school bus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Penny L. Saunders and husband Marty of South Boston; one son, Joseph C. Landrum Jr. (Little Joe) and special friend Laura Eakes of Halifax; two brothers, David Landrum of Danville and Doug Landrum of Halifax; two sisters, Jenny L. Noblin of South Boston and Bernice L. Barley of Halifax; two grandchildren, Gabriel Saunders and Christian Joseph Saunders. He was preceded in death by one brother, H.B. Landrum.

A funeral will be held Friday, April 26, 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with Rev. Bill Wilkins and Rev. Isaac Mooneyham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home, 2106 Deer Run Road, Halifax.
