Josh B. Mitchell, 73, of Clover Road, Randolph, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2019. He was born in Halifax County on March 14, 1946, son of the late Robert Mitchell and Maria Carter Mitchell. He was married to Gwendolyn F. Mitchell and at an early age joined St. Matthew Baptist Church.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn F. Mitchell of Charlotte, N.C.; his children, Damone Mitchell and Joslyn Mitchell, both of Detroit, Marshette Pernell and Victoria Fields, both of Charlotte, N.C. and Dominique Fields (Desmond) of Kingston, N.Y., 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Mary Mitchell and Inez Barnes of Clover, Robert Lee Mitchell (Nancy) and Magdalene Mitchell, all of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., June Mitchell of South Boston, Dorothy Tyler and Alvin Mitchell, both of Richmond, Violet Clark and Morris Mitchell (Delphine) of Scottsburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel with Rev. Morris Mitchell as eulogist. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Family Cemetery, 2005 Dryburg Road, Scottsburg.

The family will receive friends at 3076 Clover Road, Randolph and there will be no public viewing.
