Juanita Pointer Brewer, 93, of Sparks Trail, Alton died Monday, July 30, 2018 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on April 28, 1925, daughter of the late Samuel E. Pointer and Eliza Brandon Pointer. She was married to the late George Brewer.

Mrs. Brewer is survived by one devoted sister and caregiver, Louise Sparks of Alton; one devoted brother, Lark Pointer and daughter, Gwendolyn Pointer, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., nieces and caregivers, Brenda L. Harris of Alton and Wendy Hobbs (Milton) of Sandy Hook; sister-in-law, Cora Pointer of Alton; step-daughter, Alma Mills of Baltimore, Md., foster daughter, Barbara Brewer of Baltimore, Md., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one step-daughter, one step-son, nine brothers and 10 sisters.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m. at Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Galloway as Eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home and other times at 1050 Sparks Trail, Alton.
