Julia Mae Walden Church

Julia Mae Walden Church, 80, of Dry Fork, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. She was born in Halifax County on Nov. 3, 1939, daughter of the late John Samuel Walden Jr. and the late Cornelia Mae Gosney Walden. She was married to the late Frank B. Church and was of the Baptist faith.

Ms. Church is survived by her children, Lois W. Triplett of Danville, Sarah Whitlow of Dry Fork, Frank Benjamin “Benjie” Church and wife Stephanie of Durham, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Austin Triplett, Patrick Owen, Erica Adams (Ian), Zachary Allen, Richard Wilborne, Christine Jones (Thomas) and Melanie Conner (Greg); six great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Wellons of Conway, S.C., John Samuel Walden Jr. and wife Pat of Danville, Robert Kemper Walden and wife Morag of Lebanon and a host of extended family and friends.

Her first husband, John Richard “Rick” Whitlow, preceded her in death.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Don Bryant officiating.
