Kelvin Ray Baker, 49, of Halifax, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019. He was born in Nash County, N.C. on June 9, 1970, son of son of Jesse Linwood Baker and Dorothy Christine Moore Baker. Kelvin enjoyed spending time with family, taking his girls fishing and spoiling his grandchildren. He was passionate about his career in respiratory therapy, where he was surrounded by the most amazing work family at Lynchburg General Hospital and Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill. He was a giant teddy bear with an unmatched soul who had a smile and laughter that could light up a room. He will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker is survived by his daughters, Kayla Baker Jarosz and husband Andrew of Chesterfield, Kelsey Baker and Karley Baker, both of South Boston; two grandchildren, Adaline Jarosz and Jace Jarosz; his sister, Sherry Odom and husband Jimmy of Fayetteville, N.C.; niece and nephew, Drew Stevens and wife Charlotte of Wilmington, N.C., and Lindsey Odom of Fayetteville, N.C.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Ryan Stevens.

A funeral was held Saturday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Coghill officiating. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday from 7- p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at 1133 Dan River Church Road, Halifax.
