Kester Allen Boxley, 74, of Motley Trail, South Boston died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on Sept. 7, 1936, a son of the late Myrtle Arnold Boxley and Archie Boxley and was married to Charlotte White Boxley. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a retired employee of Hercules, Inc. and a United States Marine veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Karen Smyre of Passaic, N.J. and Charissa B. Coleman of South Boston; one son, Sgt. Damon Allen Boxley of Union, N.J., two brothers, Jesse Boxley of South Boston and Arthur Arnold of Chesapeake; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sons-in-law, James Smyre and Keith Coleman, other relatives and friends, including Harold Owens Jr.

A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Frederick Eily officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.
