Mrs. Lelia Cole Moorefield of 257 Maple Avenue, Halifax died Friday, June 11, 2010 at The Woodview. Born in Halifax County on February 6, 1911, she was 99 years old and was the daughter of the late John L. Cole Sr. and Elizabeth Lovelace Cole and was married to the late Hampton Younger Moorefield. She was a member of the Halifax Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Moorefield is survived by one daughter, Carolyn M. Shelton of Halifax, three sisters, Mable C. Barnes of Sutherlin, Mary Morton Butler of Hampton and Jen C. Gebhart of Grable, Wyoming, one granddaughter, Betsy Payne Shelton Eller and husband Brent of Raleigh, N.C., and two great grandsons, Brent Payne Eller and John Benton Eller of Raleigh, N.C.

A graveside service was held Saturday at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Blevins officiating.
