Lina Francis Stanfield Benton, 97, of Maid Marion Lane, South Boston died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at The Woodview. She was born in Omega on May 13, 1913, a daughter of the late Cornelius Stanfield and Lucy Puryear Stanfield. She was married to the late Ben Benton and was a member of Jeter Chapel Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Joannah Herbert and husband Louis James of South Boston; five grandchildren, Lina Taylor, Mr. Clifton Herbert, Louis Herbert Jr., Deborah Chandler, Joan Martin; seven great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Susie Stanfield and Gracie Stanfield; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Henry, Albert and Elijah and six sisters, Mary, Plenty, Willie, Lillie, Katherine and Lucy.

A funeral will be held Saturday at Jeter Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Antori Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 2012 Maid Marion Lane, South Boston. Public viewing Friday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
