Linda Darnell Carter, 74, formerly of Halifax County, died in Charlotte, N.C., Monday, Aug. 26, 2019 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on Aug. 15, 1945, daughter of the late Otis James Carter Sr. and Essie Crews Carter. She was a member of Banister Hill Baptist Church and later joined Friendship Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C.

Ms. Carter is survived by one brother, Otis James Carter Jr. (Charlotte) of Halifax; one sister, Marion Carter Stamps (Ellis) of Danville; two aunts, Barbara Martin of South Boston and Jean Green of Arizona; sister-in-law, Danita Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

One brother, Lawrence Carter, preceded her in death.

A funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. at Banister Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. William Carr as eulogist. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Public viewing was held Friday, Aug. 30 from 2-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family received friends at the home of Otis Carter, 1073 Cowford Road, Halifax.
