Lisborn Dennis Roberts, 85 known as Dennis died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018. He was born on May 27, 1932 to the late Robert Lee Roberts and Eva Ragland Roberts in Buffalo Junction.

Dennis attended school in Mecklenburg County. He retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital after 32 years and Sears after 20 years in Washington, DC. He was a former member of St. Mark Baptist Church, upon returning to Clarksville, he became a member of Wharton Memorial Baptist Church and drove bus for the Mecklenburg County School System. Among Dennis’ favorite pastimes, he loved being outside, gardening, washing cars, playing golf, playing horseshoes, and watching wrestling. Most of all he enjoyed washing clothes.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 66 years Queen Boxley Roberts; Children: Brenda Peterson, Larry Roberts (Renee), Donald Roberts (Linda), Debbie Shaw (Jeff), Velky Roberts (Deborah) Charlene Collins and Maurice Roberts Sr. (Carolyn); 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; 1 brother: Richard Roberts. one brother-in-law: James Boxley (Delores); Four sisters-in-laws: Hilda Lampkins, Anna Wray Wilkerson, Jacie Roberts and Shirley Roberts. daughter-in-law: Leonia Roberts and host of nieces, nephews cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Stansburg, William, Chambois, Gilbert, Jerry, Floyd and Robert Louis and two children: William “Benny” and Clarice.

A funeral was held Saturday, March 3, at Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson.

Services were entrusted to Carter’s Funeral Home.
