Lorraine Marie Green, 55, of Brodnax entered eternal rest Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Retreat Hospital, Richmond.

Mrs. Green was born in Baltimore, Md. July 6, 1954 to Wallace and Myrtle Megginson Smith. Her childhood years were spent in Edmondson Village where she graduated from Edmonson High School in 1972. At an early age she was baptized and attended Christ Edmondson United Methodist Church in Baltimore. She worked for C&P Telephone Company in the telephone directory division as an advertising specialist. In 1982, Lorraine moved from Baltimore to Brodnax. She was an assistant administrator for D&D Adult Home. She later worked at the Brunswick Elementary School as a cafeteria aide. She joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, where she served as secretary of the Pastor’s Aide Committee.

Cherishing her memories are husband, Alphonza W. Green of Brodnax; one son; Alking Green (Annette) of Brodnax, two step sons, Alphonza Green Jr. and Andre Ford; two grandchildren, Alking Green Jr. and Ayla Green; two sisters, Regina Smith (Dan) and Thea Mitchell (Michael) all of Baltimore, Md. and two stepsisters, Pamela Seldon (Norman) and Denean Leeper (Del-Rico); mother-in-law Dorothy Davis (Ernest) and stepmother Angela Brown; four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A memorial service will be held noon, July 17, 2010 at New Antioch Baptist Church, Randallstown, Md.
