Louise Anderson Younger Martin, 104, of Halifax died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. She was born Dec. 26, 1908, a daughter of the late John Meads Anderson and Neva Covington Anderson and was first married to the late Joel Frank Younger and then to the late Patrick Henry Martin.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ for over 50 years and taught piano for many years.

She is survived by one son, John Robert Younger and wife Mildred of Ormond Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Sandra Callahan and husband Steve of Sarasota, Fla., Christopher Younger and wife Becky of Cocoa, Fla., Dinah Younger of Ormond Beach, Fla., Scott Younger and wife Dawn of Nashua, New Hampshire; eight living great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John LeGrande Anderson and wife Kathleen of Rougemont, N.C., one sister, Dorothy Anderson Clements of Halifax. She was preceded in death by one son, James Courtney Younger, one great-grandchild and two brothers, William Meads Anderson and Lewis Courtney “Buzz” Anderson.

A funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at McKendree United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Neilsen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home, Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at her home.
