Louise “Lou/Buggy” Walker Carter, 78, of Crystal Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on Aug. 5, 1943, daughter of the late Herbert Walker and the late Gracie W. Walker. She was married to the late Henry Carter and a member of First Baptist Church of Millstone. Louise was an animal lover and adored all of her family.

Ms. Carter is survived by her children, Virginia Walters of South Boston, Henry Melvin Carter Jr. and wife Kim of Nathalie, Holt Carter of Crystal Hill; 11 grandchildren; three grandchildren she raised, Becky Lloyd, Karen Conner and Ginger Shotwell; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Brenda Perkins of Crystal Hill, Stella Francis of Brookneal, Woodrow Walker and wife Peggy of Brookneal and Dick Walker and wife Frances of Halifax.

She was preceded in death by daughters Elsie Ridgeway and Olivia Hudson and brother, Dan Walker.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the Carter family cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to service Saturday at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Becky and Dustin Lloyd, 4081 Oak Level Road, Halifax.
