Mamie Buster Reid

Mamie Buster Reid of Coles Ferry Road, Nathalie died May 9, 2013 at her residence at the age of 84.

Born inn Halifax County on March 29, 1919 to the late William Alan Buster and Polina Garrett Buster. Sshe was married to the late William Cleveland Reid. She joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at a young age and later became a dedicated witness of Jehovah.

Mrs. Reid leaves to cherish her memories a son, James Edward Reid and wife Ruth of Washington, DC a daughter, Lula Mae Barksdale of Nathalie, a sister-in-law, Rosa Buster of South Boston and a devoted god-daughter, Janis Chandler and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Virginia Jones. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by a daughter, Augusta C. Barley, a sister, Mary Canada, three brothers, James, Paul and Roosevelt Buster.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Lula Mae Barksdale, 8106 Coles Ferry Road, Nathalie.

Public visitation will be Monday, May 13 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at The Crawford Hosue Chapel in Halifax.

Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home.
