Marie K. Young, 82, of Virgilina, passed away on April 23, 2011 after a long illness at home. She was born in the Woodsdale area of Person County, N.C. on Oct. 8,1928, a daughter of the late. Mary King Oliver.

Aunt Marie moved to New York at an early age. She was employed at the Hudson River State Hospital for 35 years, from where she retired. Aunt Marie never had any biological children, but she was a mother to many of her nieces and nephews. For the past 10 years she has resided in Virgilina.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Marie King of Virgilina, several nieces and nephews and caregivers, Virginia Stewart and Barbara Jean Talley. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest W. King and Alguster King (Katie Crawley King).

Private graveside services were held in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on April 28, at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
