Two held for assault in stabbing incident

Mark Alan Lewis, 56, of Virgilina, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017. He was born in Halifax County on May 17, 1961, a son of the late Augusta Garland “A.G.” Lewis and Frenchy Reaves Lewis. He was married to Patti Ford Lewis and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and Hyco Ruritan Club.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lewis is survived by one daughter, Jessica L. Martin and husband Mitchell of Virgilina; one son, Tyler Lewis and wife Eirika of Halifax; two grandchildren, Emory and Slade Martin; two brothers, Odie Lewis and wife Carolyn of Cluster Springs and Kenneth Lewis and wife Beverly of Amherst; his mother-in-law, Mary Ford of South Boston and brother-in-law, Bryant Ford of Mt. Gilead, N.C.

A funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Shayne Estes and Rev. Randy Holmes officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at his home, 1131 Shady Grove Church Road.
