On Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 our beloved sister, sister-in-law aunt and friend, Martha Marie Moody Jones was called to eternal rest at the age of 78. Martha was born in Mecklenburg County, on July 7, 1939 to the late Arthur and Odell Moody. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, Clarksville. She was a faithful member and was on the Usher Board and the choir. She was employed by Russell Stover candy factory as a “dipper” before retiring.

Cherishing her memories are two step-daughters: Jean Vedder of Pennsylvania and Linda Spriggs of New Jersey; one sister: Mary Osborne (James) of Clarksville; four sisters-in-law: a special devoted Louise Moody of Clarksville, Lorraine Moody of Richmond, Versie Moody of Jacksonville, Florida and Irma Carter of Finchley, and a vast number of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Jones Jr., three brothers: Charlie, Arthur, Jr. and Thomas and one sister: Anna.

Special recognition to Consuello Clay, the daughter she never had, Rosetta Guthrie, Portia Burwell and Odell Boswell.

A funeral was held Saturday, March 3, at New Liberty Baptist Church.

Services were entrusted to Carter’s Funeral Home.
