Martha T. Hodges, formerly of South Boston, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Raleigh, N.C., at the age of 98. Married to the late Joseph L. Hodges Jr., she was the former owner of Hodges Jewel Box, Inc in South Boston. She was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in South Boston.
Mrs. Hodges is survived by a granddaughter, Laura M. Hodges of San Francisco, Calif., a grandson, Joseph L. Hodges IV and wife, Heather of Washington, DC, a brother, Sam A. Tuten of Raleigh, N.C., two step daughters, Jackie and Barbara, a step son Dave, a daughter-in-law, Pat Hodges of Las Vegas, Nev., a step granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Joseph L. Hodges III.
A memorial service for Mrs. Hodges was held on Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Bern, N.C.
