Mary Ann Wall Gravitt, 71, of 1217 E. Hyco Road, South Boston died at her brother’s home in Oxford, NC on April 7, 2011. She was born March 12, 1940 in Granville County, N.C., a daughter of the late Charlie Richard Wall and Alice Bailey Wall and was married to Arthur Loftis “Crow” Gravitt. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired optometrist’s assistant.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Craig Gravitt and wife Melanie Stanley and her daughter, Madison Mitchell, of Virgilina; brothers, Glen Wall and wife Norma and Charles Wall, all of Oxford, N.C., and three nieces.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Shady Grove U.M.C. Cemetery with Rev. George Gorman officiating. Memorials may be directed to United Hospice Foundation, 301 S. Church Street, Suite 122 Station Square, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 or the Halifax County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 875, South Boston, VA 24592. The family will receive friends at 1162 Shady Grove Church Road.
