Mary Ellen Coleman

Mary Ellen Coleman, 91, of Guill Town Road, Clover, died on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on April 8, 1927, daughter of the late Otis Dixon and Ellen Dixon. She was married to the late Amos Coleman and was a member of First Baptist Church, Meadville.

Mrs. Coleman is survived by one daughter, Yvonne Carter (George) of Clover; one son, Gordon Coleman of South Boston; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Katherine McCargo and Lossie Miller.

She was preceded in death by a son, Amos Dixon Coleman and five siblings.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Meadville, with Pastor Fabion Poindexter and Rev. Robert Wimbish, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends at 1143 Guill Town Road, Clover.
