Mary Hughes “Patsy” (Ligon) Easley, 90, of Staunton died Tuesday, April 3,2018 at Augusta Health. She was born in Clarksville on Sept. 24, 1927, a daughter of the late John Archer and Genevieve (Hughes) Ligon. Patsy worked as a homemaker taking care of her husband and children.

She was an active member of Aglow International. Patsy was an elder of Second Presbyterian Church in Staunton and taught Sunday School.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Eugene Brannock Easley; children, Jonnie Kern and husband, Steven, Beverly Hartley, Andrew Easley, II and Mary Sonifrank and husband, Scherrill ; grandchildren, Virginia Lockamy and husband, Eric, Angela Hartley, Nathan Hartley and wife, Sarah, and Jonathan Hartley and wife, Leslie, Genevieve Easley, Alex and Paul Sonifrank; eight great- grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two siblings, Jack Ligon and Martha Grimmett.

A funeral will be held Friday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 201 W Frederick Street, Staunton, with Rev. Evan R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Thornrose cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 5from 6-8 p.m. at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers, emorial donations may be made in Patsy’s memory to her church’s memorial fund, P.O. Box 175, Staunton, VA 24402.
