Mary Jane Watts Epps, 76, wife of James David Epps III, died at her home on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019. She was born in Halifax County on Aug. 23, 1943, daughter of the late Charlie Franklin Watts and the late Beatrice Gravitt Watts.

Mary Jane was a graduate of Halifax County High School, Class of 1961. She retired from ASCS Office, with 38 years of employment, and then worked for Halifax County in a variety of offices. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Jimmy, she is survived by a step son, James David Epps IV of LaCrosse; step grandson, James David Epps V; niece, Phyllis Watts Vernon; nephews, Franklin Watts, Eddie Glascock, Michael Glascock; sisters-in-law, Norma Epps Chaney and Scotty Epps Felton; and special friend, Leta Davis.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joyce Glasscock and Jesse Franklin Watts.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Revs. Jack Stewart and Rod Chaney officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to service at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
