Mary Landrum “Sissy” Crowder, 78, of 2206 Love Shop Road, Halifax, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was born in Danville on Jan. 6, 1939,a daughter of the late Charlie Howard Landrum and Hattie Davis Landrum. She was married to Robert Douglas Crowder, was of the Methodist faith and retired from D-Scan in 2001.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Crowder is survived by her children, Vickie Barker of Ringgold, Pam Hundley (Jeff Bell) of Inman, S.C., Dean Howerton of Danville, Scott Crowder (Marcia) of Halifax and Jason Crowder (Donna) of South Boston; her brother, Michael Landrum (Mary) of Danville; grandchildren, Lindsay Atkinson (BJ) of Wilson, N.C., Aleisha Brann (Ray) of Charlottesville, Lee Barker (Sarah) of Ringgold, Chris Hundley (Allison Acree) of Newport News, Ellen Crowder of Amelia and Chase Crowder of South Boston; sister-in-law, Patsy Landrum of Danville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers David Landrum, Lewis Landrum and Ronald Landrum and son-in-law, Terry L. Barker Sr.

A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T. Wayne Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home, 2206 Love Shop Road, Halifax.
