Mrs. Pointer is survived by four daughters, Jacquelin Pointer-Hamlett of Alton, Sharon Pointer-Franklin and husband, Gerald and Joan P. Bowers and husband, Gerry of South Boston and Saundra D. Pointer of Richmond, two sons, James A. Pointer and Waverly E. Pointer and wife Regina of Richmond, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, an aunt, Mavis Williams of Baltimore, Md., a sister-in-law, Lillian L. Pointer of Roxboro, N.C., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Valerie L. Bowers.
A funeral was conducted on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Alton with Rev. Harvey Bigelow officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at the residence at 2078 Traynham Grove Road, Alton. Public viewing for family and friends was on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements were by Jeffress Funeral Home.
