Michael Irving Anderson

Michael Irving Anderson, 62, of Halifax died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at his home with his wife Judy of 40 1/2 years by his side. He was born in Halifax County on Feb. 9, 1950, son of the late E. Irving Anderson and Mabel Landrum Anderson and was married to Judith Smith Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a Mason with the Halifax Lodge, where he was past Master, and a former member of Center United Church of Christ. He was employed for over 30 years with the Virginia Department of Agriculture as Weights and Measures Regulatory Inspector and Feed, Seed and Fertilizer Commodities Inspector.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Carole A. Lacks of South Boston; one aunt, Jean Landrum Guthrie of South Boston; one sister-in-law, Susan Woody and husband Ed of Scottsburg; two brothers-in-law, Steve Smith and wife Sandy of Nathalie and Paul Smith of Newport News; and a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Runt and Diane Powell; special thanks to caregivers Robert Williams, Desiree Gwaltny, Donna Darden and Halifax Regional Hospital.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Beth Car Baptist Church Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Paul Buckman, Rev. Randy Holmes and Rev. Dr. Michael Parnell officiating.
