Michael Vaughn Lockhart

Michael Vaughn Lockhart, 64, of 1086 Covered Bridge Trail, Virgilina, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home. He was born Aug. 7, 1953 in Person County, N.C., a son of the late Samuel Vaughn and Musette Kathleen Jones Lockhart. He worked as a carpenter, was a cancer survivor and was of the Baptist faith.

Mike enjoyed nature, hiking, history, going to the library, helping others, working on his old cars, playing guitar and singing and volunteering at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was very athletic and was a music buff.

Surviving are a brother, Samuel Errol Lockhart and friend, Barbara Phipps of Roxboro, N.C.; aunt, Marie Wade and husband, Lee of Salisbury, N.C.; special friend, Alice Rhett, of Alton and a host of cousins.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel by the Pastor Mike Whitt.
